In the last years of the nineteenth century, along the old mule track that connected Vilminore to Meto and Pianezza, the fourteen shrines of the Via Crucis were built, preceded by the arch known as Matasì placed next to the moat in the Pont district, on which the writing “PER CRUCEM AD LUCEM” is still visible today.
