The storm surge in October 2023 undermined around 40 old trees on the wooded cliffs between Neuendorf and Wreechen, causing them to collapse and tumble over the beach toward the water. This strikingly illustrates why people are always warned against getting too close to the edge of the cliffs. Incidentally, city officials have decided against clearing them. The trees are intended to serve as natural coastal protection. In any case, it looks spectacular.
