On November 1, 1897, the market in Aken shone in bright light - after about half a year of construction, the electricity plant began operations. The plant supplied the old town with direct current at a voltage of 110 V. It was not until 1965 that Aken was completely converted to alternating current, so that the old power plant could be shut down.More information: aken.de/de/electricitaets-werk-aken.html
