The cross was erected at an outstanding viewpoint on a sharp bend of the road leading from Tarnawa Górna through Gruszka and Huzele to Lesko. From here, you can see the panorama of the Bieszczady peaks from Smerek to Chryszczata, the further part is obscured by trees, but looking west, the view opens up again, showing the closer hills surrounding the village of Tarnawa Górna.

The cross was erected in October 2016, when the 1050th anniversary of the baptism of Poland (966) and the 38th anniversary of the election of the Polish Pope John Paul II (1978) were celebrated.

Motorized tourists can stop their vehicles below the bend, where from the side of the hill the road widens, creating a bay for several cars.
