Two kilometers before the confluence of the Böhme in the Aller, the river at Gut Böhme is stowed by a mill weir. Age and history of the mill are hardly explored. It is first mentioned in a document in the 17th century, but it is said that it was built much earlier, as the estate in Böhme, to which it belongs, is very old. In the vicinity of the current plant should have been a water castle. The Gutsmühle covered the farm's own needs and grinded for the farmers in the area. In the 18th century it was operated by a miller of the estate; some of the farmers were bound to the mill as compulsory meal guests. 1780/90 there was a Mahl-, an oil and a Walkgang. In 1882, a water-powered sawmill was set up; Oil and fulling mill had apparently been discontinued before. Around 1900, the landlord family set up a turbine. In 1966, the sawmill, 1972 and the grain mill was set. Landowner Freiherr von Hodenberg has been using the mill to generate electricity for the needs of the farm; the surplus is fed into the public pipeline network. Four cubic meters of water fall through the turbines per second, which more than meets the needs of the large agricultural enterprise. 70 percent of the electricity can therefore be sold.
