The Tempietto di Sant'Antonio, octagonal in shape, was built in the 16th century on the exact spot where in 1223 the so-called Miracle of the Mule took place at the hands of Saint Anthony of Padua. Here he 'converted' a mule to Christianity that, after three days of fasting, knelt for the sacrament instead of eating it.
