It is unknown in which year the church was built. However, it is believed that it was consecrated on the day of the death of Bishop Lamberti of Maastricht, on September 17th. The largest part of this building dates back to the 13th century, but has undergone many changes over the years. In 1616, the sculptor Ludwig Münstermann used an upside-down older Romanesque baptismal font for the baptismal font that was created in its current form, which probably came from a church that had sunk in the Jade Bay.

Organ by Johann Claussen Schmid (1856)

      Navigation: Butjadinger Strasse 9, 26969 Butjadingen-Eckwarden

The St. Lamberti Church is one of the churches in the Oldenburg region in which works by the woodcarver Ludwig Münstermann can be found. For St. Lamberti he created a baptismal font in 1616, an altar in 1626 and the epitaph (epigram inscription or grave monument in a church) of the Eckwarder bailiff Meent Siassen in 1631.

There was already an organ in St. Lamberti in 1660. It was built by Berendt Hus ("Hueß") and has 17 registers distributed between the main organ and the Rückpositiv. The pedal is attached. Johann Claussen Schmid (Oldenburg) built a new organ in 1856 using older pipe material. The case was completely renewed. From 1936 onwards, the Alfred Führer company from Wilhelmshaven changed the organ several times until it finally received its current disposition in 1980.
