Peral is a village whose origins are unknown. The Roman remains found at Quinta de São Lourenço, particularly in the chapel of São Lourenço, are not sufficient to prove the existence of a permanent occupation of this territory during the Roman occupations, but in the absence of older evidence proving the presence of Humans in the lands of Peral, we can assume that this territory has been used by Humans at least since the Roman occupations.
The village of Peral was elevated to town and municipal seat on 10 July 1371, before Cadaval, which highlights the importance and resources that Peral had in the 14th century. This consistency as an urban agglomeration was probably due to the richness of its agricultural soils and the abundance of water springs, two very important factors for Humans to be able to settle in a territory.
Today, Peral lives between the prosperity that its agricultural development model brought it and the decadence that its rural development model imposed on it.
