Following a decision by the affected population, the villages of Kuckum (new), Unter- und Oberwestrich (new), Keyenberg (new), and Berverath (new) have been developing in a closed area north of Erkelenz since 2016. These villages merge seamlessly into one another at the new location. At the center is a modern multi-purpose hall and the new St. Peter's Chapel with a 20-meter-high bell tower. In January 2024, the village community officially inaugurated the modern multi-purpose hall opposite the chapel. The facade of the multi-purpose hall features striking steel panels with excerpts from the history of the villages and from local community life.
