The gneiss blocks mark the southwesternmost occurrence of Moldanubian basement rock in this area. They were raised at the Wolfach fault opposite the Ortenburger subsidence field. The gneiss blocks lying on the meadow near the swimming pool come from road construction. Other gneiss blocks are located in the road embankment.
