The church is of Romanesque origin and was built around 1200 under strong influence from the Jerichow Collegiate Church. A baroque half-timbered tower with a curved hood and open lantern was built over the tower, which was probably not completed in the Middle Ages, around 1715. At the same time, the interior was redesigned.
