After the brown coal opencast mines were closed, the bucket wheel excavator was taken to the former Berzdorf opencast mine near Görlitz, on what is now Berzdorf Lake, and is available there as a contemporary witness. The excavator is maintained by the Berzdorf - Upper Lusatia Mining Witnesses Association and is operated as a museum and can be visited with a guide.
The bucket wheel excavator is 75 meters long, 33.5 meters high, and extends to a full 47.85 meters wide with its loading boom. The wheel boom and the loading boom are each 29 meters long and have a thrust of 12 meters. The bucket wheel excavator 1452 has been added to the official cultural monument list of the Free State of Saxony.
    Highly recommended!!!
