This is the oldest tea tree still maintained in Gambung, from the time of Rudolf Eduard Kerkhoven.
Some say that this is the first generation tree when Kerkhoven opened Gambung in 1874. However, there are other sources that say this tree is from 1901 when Kerkhoven decided to change the tea plants in his garden from Camellia sinensis to Camellia sinensis var. assamica.
I don't know which one is correct. If anyone knows, please enlighten me.
