This beautifully preserved castle is really worth a trip.
Since the entire region is developed with hiking trails, the castle can be included in a multi-day tour, or if you have a hotel/pension nearby, it can also be used for a short (half-) day trip. You can then park in Waidbruck. You can see what this can look like here: komoot.de/tour/3617358
As already written, you should find out beforehand about the times when tours (offered in several languages) take place so that you can also visit the rooms.
From the other side of the valley you have a beautiful view of the Trostburg if you hike from Barbian to the Barbian Waterfalls.

The well-preserved Trostburg Castle on the eastern slope above the small community of Ponte Gardena was first mentioned at the end of the 12th century as the seat of Cunrat de Trosperch. It then came into the possession of the Lords of Wolkenstein. In the 17th century, the stronghold was rebuilt into a robust fortress. Today, it is the official seat of the South Tyrolean Castle Institute and, since 2005, the South Tyrolean Castle Museum.eisacktal.com/de/reiseziele/klausen-und-die-eisacktaler-dolomiten/klausen-und-die-eisacktaler-dolomiten/trostburg
