Church / Holy Cross Chapel in Realp
The Holy Cross Chapel in Realp was a branch church of Andermatt. In 1448, the chaplain of Hospental was obliged to read a weekly mass in Realp. In 1518, the village of Realp demanded its own permanent chaplain. An arbitration court settled the conflict with the valley community in favor of the Realp residents. In 1725, the chaplain in Realp was a Capuchin for the first time, and since 1735 he has always been one, which meant that the right of collation passed to the Capuchin Order. The separation from Andermatt and thus the establishment of a separate parish took place in 1882 after the construction of the new Holy Cross Church. Since 2018, with the departure of the last representative of the Capuchin Order, the Realp-Andermatt parish has existed, which is looked after by a deacon.
