The stone sea rescue shed at the Friedrichsschleuse lock dates back to 1910. Twenty-five lives have been saved from the station. One of many rescue missions is documented for November 2, 1869, when the rescuers from Captain Jacobs' VENUS from Rhauderfehn came to the rescue.
In 1945, the Friedrichsschleuse rescue station was closed. Today, the rescue shed houses the German Sielhafen Museum's permanent exhibition on rescue services on the North Sea coast.

The rescue station was built in its present form in 1910. It replaced a previous building from 1865. By 1945, at least 25 people had been rescued from here in distress.
