Fort Carlton, a central trading post of the Hudson's Bay Company between 1810 and 1885, is strategically located on the North Saskatchewan River and was a key location for the signing of Treaty No. 6 in 1876. Accidentally destroyed by a careless evacuation in 1885, the site is now Fort Carlton Provincial Historic Park with reconstructed buildings, tangible artifacts and a variety of interpretive programs. In addition to exciting stories about the past, visitors can also expect pure nature with hiking trails, a picnic area and a rustic campsite. The nearby Pêmiska Lodges with their glamping options and cultural adventure packages ensure an unforgettable experience.
