Visible from afar, the Dützen windmill (also called Hummelbecker Mill after the oldest part of Dützen; Mill Route No. 32) stands on the western edge of Dützen. It is the only one of the nine wind, water and motor mills that once existed in Dützen. It was built around 1810 as a Dutch windmill with a high passage. As early as 1902, a suction gas motor was installed, which was replaced by a more powerful one in 1927 and an electric motor in 1950. After storm damage, the blades were dismantled in 1941 and the hood in 1961. After the mill was shut down in 1989, it was sold in 1990 to the Dützen local history association, founded in 1987, which initiated the comprehensive restoration (1991-1995) with the support of two sponsors (Kampa, Fahrenkamp). Since then, the torso of the mill has once again become a functioning windmill.

There are regular milling and baking days and other events at the Dützen windmill. More information at: heimatverein-duetzen.de and hvduetzen@t-online.de . Even outside of opening hours, the mill and its grounds, as well as other restored buildings, can be viewed from the outside at any time. The mill is located directly on the "Velo-Route Süd" bicycle route, which runs east-west through the southern districts of Minden.
