After Romanesque frescoes from the 11th century were found in this old St. Michael's Church in 1892, the Württemberg finance administration bought the old church. In 1896, the parish under Pastor Eduard Hauber built a new St. Michael's Church about 200 m to the southeast.

The building plan for the new church was drawn up by government architect Pohlhammer from Stuttgart. His concept was a plain, simple and friendly village church in a neo-Gothic transitional style. The building is a brick joint construction made of light gray Wasseralfingen slag stones and white Dettenhausen sandstone on a simple concrete base.

The original organ case from 1896 stands on the gallery, the interior had to be renovated in 1985. On the south wall there is a votive tablet from 1692, donated by a Burgfeld bailiff. The tower has an attached round tower for the gallery and the bell tower.

The original bells from 1416 and 1426 were taken from the old St. Michael's Church to the new church, the larger of the two was recast and an additional 3rd bell was purchased. All 3 bells fell victim to armaments in 1917. In 1921, 3 steel bells were purchased, which were replaced by 3 new bells in 1972.

The old church is absolutely fascinating! A tomb from the 7th century, and paintings of a kind no longer preserved in the northern Alps.
