The first trees in the central clay park were planted in the era of Ban Josip Jelačić. The promenade was named after him, so it was named after the kings Aleksandar and Petar Karađorđević and the national hero Nikola Demonja. In 1943, ten SS soldiers were buried in it, while in 1991 the park was the scene of a new battle for Glina. Today it is again called Ban Jelačić Square, and ten busts of national heroes have been removed from it
