The nature reserve was formed in 2015 around the small river Oxsjöån. The heart of the area is the river in its deep gorge.
Around the river and west of it, moist spruce forest dominates.
West of the river there are various rocky "hills" and pines in a burned forest.
There is only one easy forest road through the nature reserve and no hiking trails. However, in the pine forest you can easily find your way up the hills and to the gorge.
