The dam of the Saidenbach dam is a curved gravity dam made of quarry stone masonry according to the Intze principle. The dam was built between 1929 and 1933 near Lengefeld in the Ore Mountains (commissioned in 1933). It is a "large dam" according to ICOLD criteria. The dammed waters are the Haselbach, Saidenbach, Lippersdorfer Bach and Hölzelbergbach.
A public path leads over the dam. Swimming and recreational sports are not possible in the reservoir, but you can hike and fish around the reservoir.
The Saidenbach dam has a fore-dam (Forchheim) and ten fore-basins, four of which are normally flooded.
The panoramic hike offers unique views of the dam in Saidenbach.
The approx. 15 km long circular route takes 3-4 hours, depending on your fitness level. In doing so, around 400 meters of altitude are overcome.
