The Musée de Bastia is located in the historic Governor's Palace, nestled in the citadel ("Terra Nova") above the old harbor.🏛️ Brief description:
Historic building: Built between the 14th and 16th centuries, the palace was once the residence and fortress of the Genoese governors; a historic monument with impressive defensive architecture.
Content & focus: The museum is dedicated to the history of Bastia, Genoese rule, and the city's development up to the modern era. Around 300 objects, paintings, documents, sculptures, and furniture in 19 thematic rooms combine history, anthropology, and art.Special areas: Among others, the city's founding in the 14th century, its center of power, its cultural heyday, and the mapping of Bastia. Loans are also available, such as paintings from the circle of Cardinal Fesch (17th and 18th centuries).

The museum is very nice, it allows you to visit the basement of the building (old fort and old prison) then the very complete exhibitions. Finally, a little tour of the hanging garden will offer you a beautiful view of the port. I recommend it!
