The brewery was founded in 1974 in a building of a former distillery in Niechanów. In the years 1974–1992 it was part of the agricultural conglomerate PGR Żydowo. During the PRL period, the brewery produced beer brands such as: Gnieźnieńskie, Gnieźnieński Kryształ, Gnieźnieński Tur, Pelikan and Rubin.
The plant was closed in 1997.
In 2014, the brewery was put up for auction by a bailiff. In 2016, it was re-launched by Wielkopolskie Browary Regionalne Sp. z o.o.
In 2020, the brewery in Niechanów was taken over by Doctor Brew Sp. z o.o.
