Definitely worth a stop to visit the interesting memorial site at Point Alpha. It is open from April to October daily from 9am to 6pm. Adults pay 6 euros entrance fee.

More information about the memorial and the exhibitions can be found here: pointalpha.com.

In the memorial Point Alpha you can relive German history, in the former US base, but also in nature, the various border fences can be seen and explanations to the former self-firing systems.

Here is one of the few points where the German division and the horror of the inner German borders can be seen and felt.

The variety of memorial sites at this place is amazing, it should take a few minutes to become aware of the reunification event.
This (small) section on the former inner German border clearly illustrates the situation at that time and the two opposing sides in Germany.

History never expires! For someone who has seen Germany divided, quite oppressive.

Impressive and touching memorial on the former inner-German border. The hostile social systems of the victorious powers led to the division of Germany into GDR and FRG.

The visit to the blue house on the border is worthwhile, very informative as the border has changed over the years.
The nearby former US base is well worth a visit.
