Symonds Yat is a village in the Wye Valley and a popular tourist destination, straddling the River Wye in the English county of Herefordshire, very close to the Gloucestershire border. It is within a few miles of Monmouthshire and the Welsh border.

The two settlements either side of the river are known as Symonds Yat (West) and Symonds Yat (East) and are linked by a footbridge and passenger ferries. Nearby is Symonds Yat Rock.

Single track going in and out but there are area's to pull in so other cars can pass.We parked by the river then walked to the path that takes you through the woods up to the rock. Some area's are easier than others to tackle. The steps are high so if you have little legs or unfit you could struggle. The area could be slippery at times so wear good foot wear.Once at the top a cafe welcomes you and what a view plenty of places to sit .Did notice there was car park at the top so if you did not want the climb you could drive up again single road with pass area's that do get busy at times. We took the slightly longer route going down but it was easier on the knees.Once down had a look at the river where there were activities taking place .Walked to a nice tea room for tea and homemade cake .The area has plenty to do lovely walks and great scenery when the weather is good.
