In Stugliai hill, near the village, you can see the intense undulation of the hills. Bounded by two marshy stream valleys, the raised moraine peak. This is the Stūglii mound, dating back to the 1st millennium. Ave. Cr. end and I thousand. after Cr. beginning Its shape is interesting - reaching a height of 211 meters above sea level, this lump of land has grown two outcrops on the northwest side. The mound has not been explored, only scouted. A stone ax with a hole for the handle, part of an iron blade, and striated pottery were found in it. Next to this cultural heritage on the eastern side you can see a homestead - this is the village of Stūglii. In the past, the village was larger, and now many former homesteads are only marked by a square on old military maps. However, a more alert traveler will see a more level place on the western slope of the mound, fruit trees growing here and there, piles of smaller stones under the trees - the remains of a former homestead. There are not one or two such places in this area. None other than Stūgliai - one of the most common surnames found in these areas - originate from this village.
