Sea salt basin in Quatro Aguas near Tavira. The name means "four waters" because the lagoons of the islands of Tavira and Cabanas, the Rio Gilão and the Atlantic Ocean meet here. The method of extracting sea salt by evaporation of sea water in shallow basins goes back to the Phoenicians.
