historic steam engine by Rustom, Procter & Co., Lincoln, England
There are several technical monuments right on the P108 state road. Right after Saldus, the former Frauenburg, there is this English steam engine, which is more than 100 years old. It was used as a tractor and also as a drive for threshing machines and worked like a steam locomotive. The two flywheels alone weigh more than 200kg each. They ensured that the machine ran smoothly, as it worked with a steam divider. This means that with every revolution of the crankshaft there were two working strokes of the steam-driven piston. Halfway up the piston, the steam divider lets the steam out into the chimney and lets new steam flow onto the piston.
During threshing, the entire machine park was moved from farm to farm and they invited their neighbors to celebrate the successful threshing of the grain together.
