The Benicia Arsenal Commanding Officer’s Quarters, constructed in 1860, was the residence of Julian McAllister, the installation's commander from 1860 to 1885. The residence held the highest position in the residential hierarchy, signifying rank and serving as a venue for hospitality. It also served as a social center and later came under the ownership of the City of Benicia in 1964.
