The Benicia Clock Tower, constructed in 1859 using native Benicia sandstone, was originally a three-story U.S. military arsenal. Its occupants enjoyed breathtaking views of Suisun, San Pablo, and San Francisco Bays. However, a fire and explosion in 1912 reduced the structure to two stories. In 1964, the City of Benicia acquired the clock tower, which now serves as a venue for dances, private parties, and community functions.
