Located in the center of Wittmund, near the district office. From bicycles with auxiliary engines and zeppelins to printing presses and military aviation at the Wittmund site, our museum has something for every technology and history enthusiast to discover. Thanks to the provision of original exhibits, we can display a collection that is unique in Germany.

In June 2015, the Robert von Zeppelin and Aviation Museum opened in Wittmund's pedestrian zone. The work of the initiators, Friedrich Janssen and Rüdiger Teßmer, aims to remind both Wittmund residents and visitors of the region's closely linked history with aviation, and especially to introduce young people to the historic "Wittmundhafen" airfield, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2016.

The museum's namesake, Robert von Zeppelin himself, even appeared at the opening. The descendant of the legendary airship designer Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin, visited Wittmund for the fourth time for this event. In his speech, he referred to the city as "his second home." But that's not all. He has donated several aviation artifacts from his private collection to the museum, which visitors can view alongside works of art by local artists and many other exhibits.

A large Zeppelin toy now adorns the museum's entrance area. It was built from stainless steel by the vocational schools in Wittmund and funded entirely by donations. The climbing frame is already very popular with young visitors.

        Opening hours (April to October):
        Tues. - Sat. from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
