Hiking
These fortifications constitute an infantry position.
Their main mission is to prohibit any landing on the beach.
Different types of fortifications were built between 1942 and 1944: a casemate for anti-tank guns, Tobruks (small individual bunkers), weapons storage bunkers, housing.
The cannon, placed in the casemate, makes it possible to destroy the attacker who attempts to approach the beach, by aiming at his side (his flank) which is more vulnerable.
The position, made up of around twenty men, was evacuated without a fight on August 3, 1944 during the retreat of German troops towards Brest.
