Evangelical Parish of Mörbisch am See - a few facts

in our village the minority is the majority

approx. 1300 parishioners

approx. 60% of the inhabitants of Mörbisch belong to the Evangelical Church

a long history that goes back to the Reformation

evangelical school and first pastor from 1578

from 1674 to 1781 the Evangelical faith was forbidden - one had to be "secretly" Evangelical (secret Protestantism)

re-founded as a parish (tolerance parish) in 1785 - first a school was built (!!!) in 1790

church built as a tolerance prayer house in 1792 / tower erected in 1854 / church space expanded in 1967

every year a children's camp at Finstergrün Castle

children's choir and parent-child choir meet weekly for rehearsals with diocesan cantor Christiaan van de Woestijne

confirmation trip to Hamburg together with Rust

Church festival and church café with lots of visitors
