Benches, a small playground – and the Meissen carillon are also good reasons to stop by. The fountain system and the carillon were repaired in 1993 and 1994; in its previous life, the bell tower was a transformer house that was no longer needed. There are now 37 porcelain bells hanging in the tower dome. The tower doors open every day at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to reveal the bells (winter break January 7th to March 20th). Songs like “Dar Vugelbeerbaam” are then played for about 5-10 minutes.
