The mill was built in 1847 in the Delitzsch district and moved to its current location in Tiefensee around 1900. It has been powered by an external diesel engine since 1926, and an electric motor was added in 1940. Grain was ground and crushed until it was finally shut down in 1953. The mill was extensively reconstructed from 1992 to 1994. The mill is now in the 4th generation of the family of baker Sommerfeld from Tiefensee and is now operated as a show mill.[1]
