The Île d'Aix is a true jewel of French maritime history, famous for its impressive fortifications which bear witness to the ingenuity of builders through the generations. The fortified village, with its plan designed by Vauban and its crow's feet streets, offers a charming walk among the ramparts and coastal batteries, testifying to the historical richness of the island.
