    Water tank and stop shelter

The railway line from Plancoët to St-Cast was designed by the engineer Louis Harel de la Noë and opened to passenger traffic on September 10, 1906. It was permanently closed on February 15, 1939. This 18-kilometer line was a "metric" line (the distance between the rails was one meter) and included 12 stations (or stopping points). The journey time was almost an hour!

Some remains are still there: the depot (or shed) at Plancoët, the small station at Créhen, the water castle and the foundations of the old bridge at Le Guildo, the L'Aubinière stopping point and its water crane, and the station at Matignon. No traces remain of the 3 stops at St-Cast.

However, the old platform is still partially visible along the coastal cycle and pedestrian paths, including the coastal path V4. The water crane at L'Aubinière is made of both reinforced concrete and red brick, typical of the architecture of "Harel de la Noë". The tank could hold 20 m³ of water pumped from the nearby stream Le Pont Duinteux. The water was then channeled into the locomotive through a pipe at the base of the tank. The reinforced concrete shelter was built in 1928 and half of the cost was borne by Notre Dame du Guildo.
