A visit to the impressive memorial near the naval depot is worthwhile. The Sea Peace Memorial, established in 2011 in the Heppenser Groden district, commemorates those buried at sea. Immediately noticeable are the former dolphins, from which six wooden steles were created in memory of the deceased. Relatives can purchase a brass memorial plaque bearing the name, year of birth and death, and the burial coordinates. A nautical chart makes it possible to determine the burial location. It's just a shame that vandalism doesn't stop here either.
