Originally, the Moosegger Aschte was a simple alpine hut or "Schwaighütte" (swallow hut), used by the Moosegger farm of the same name for summer livestock farming. The term "Aschte" comes from the Zillertal dialect and refers to a smaller, usually not permanently inhabited alpine pasture.
