    At the beginning of the 19th century, the saltpeter distiller Hemming Järn lived here with his family.
    Saltpeter is formed naturally by bacteria in the soil. The soil is enriched by mixing in various plant and animal parts and mixed several times a year. After 5 years, the soil is hopefully rich enough in nutrients. Now the saltpeter is extracted from the soil by boiling or simmering.
