These rocks, which suddenly appear after crossing a small meadow, are surprising. They resemble a mille-feuille pastry. They are of geological interest, consisting of layers of Sinnemurian limestone (Jurassic period, 190 million years ago) containing gryphaea oysters. Gryphaea oysters are a type of oyster that were found in very large numbers at the time (the region was, of course, underwater).
