Great road, smooth surface. Leads through a military restricted area. Visiting Fort Rupel is possible (and worthwhile). NOTE: the route indicated by Komoot as a bypass for the motorway to the border leads through military territory, cyclists (or anyone else) are not allowed through. This means that the only options are the motorway or a huge detour via Serres and Gotse Delchev.
