Gisborough Priory is a fascinating ruined Augustinian priory dating back to the beginning of the 12th century. The ruins are remarkably well-preserved and one of the best surviving examples of early Gothic architecture in the UK.
The priory functioned up until the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1540 when it was abolished. Today, it's managed by English Heritage and open to visitors. Entrance is free.
