This lovely little rest area on the Hammerberg is located between Waldkirchen and Witzschdorf (each 1km away).
The information board says:
“The field names “Hammerweg” and “Hammerberg” come from an iron hammer mill in Zschopenthal, which was in operation from 1667 to 1695. The iron ore was brought in from the surrounding mines, including from the Götzhöhe near Witzschdorf. The Truschbach provided the water for the operation. The path over the Hammerberg was used by the Witzschdorf farmers until the 1950s to get to the Rolle mill in Waldkirchen.”
