The building here was once a Cold War-era LORAN (Long Range Navigation) station active between 1961 and 1978, this secured site includes two sets of low-rise buildings: one for technical purposes and the other for accommodations. It formerly featured tall radio masts and was part of a network that transmitted navigation signals throughout Eastern Europe to direct the V-Bomber fleet. Today, the remaining tower in the compound is associated with a later TACAN (Tactical Air Navigation) system, a transponder-based navigation tool used by military aircraft.
