It is built on the remains of an old church.

The first church, dedicated to St. Michael, was built here in 1183. The current St. Michael's Church has existed since 1731. The church is closed and can therefore only be viewed from the outside. From the grounds of the slightly elevated church, you have a beautiful view of Breitungen. There is also a rest area there.

The Protestant Baroque St. Michael's Church in Breitungen was built in 1731 on the remains of the St. Michael's Chapel from 1183, with a new nave and an extension of the old tower.
In 1733, it received a painted pulpit, in 1738 an organ with Rococo decorations, and in 2006 a sandstone baptismal font.
