...Waldemar Otto's bronze sculpture vividly depicts the biblical fall from grace and presents his Adam as a coarse and overweight man who simply takes what he believes is his due. His posture and look reveal that he feels no shame or guilt. The bite into the apple is not a timid attempt or an act of temptation, but a conscious grasp. The person the artist shows here subjugates the earth, but not as a wise and responsible ruler, but rather as an oppressor and exploiter. The bronze sculpture at the entrance to the Botanical Garden is therefore an accusation and a warning to show more respect for creation....
