Above Schwaz, in the Kogelmoos area, the maid Gertraud Kandlerin was tending her cattle. In a fit of rage, the bull of the herd churned up the grassy ground with his horns and hooves, uncovering colorful, shiny stones. The maid carried these stones home, where they were soon recognized as ore.
The "Kandlerin" and "St. Jakob am Stier" mines are among the oldest at the "Falkenstein" (Falcon Stone), and the bull is still featured in the coat of arms of the municipality of Gallzein.
