Villa Cristina is one of many “Indian Houses” that can be admired in Villar de Luarca. It was built in 1889 in an elegant neo-Renaissance style by the architect de la Guardia, its first owner being Macario Fernández, and presenting a quadrangular floor plan with three sections with independent gabled roofs. It has the classic H-shaped hotel structure, so typically French, achieving its balance through the symmetrical distribution of the openings on the wall. Like all these large buildings, it had an area for the servants' residence, warehouses and garage, which in this case of Villa Cristina are placed on the sides of the façade, beautiful beyond all consideration, the main door escorted by two attached Corinthian style columns. its capitals, with volutes and a lintel decorated with a fine laurel wreath and an oval mirror. In the decoration of the openings, and in the interior, mirrors, garlands, palmettes, rosettes, floral motifs, scallops and volutes abound, giving an air of a Versailles palace.
